A driver and his mate have been nabbed by the police after their vehicle was impounded loaded with a firearm and boxes of ammunition.
The Kia Rhino vehicle with registration number GS- 4677-17 contained one locally manufactured single-barrel shot gun and 21 boxes made up of 525 pieces of Lion AAA and BB ammunition concealed amongst building materials.
They were intercepted on February 8, 2026, while heading towards Kpandai/NR from Accra.
A police statement reported that, “The driver Abubakari Salam Atta, 35 and his mate Kabuja Kwadwo Tademe, 19, who claimed ownership of the exhibit, were arrested.”
They are currently in Police custody, assisting with investigations and will be arraigned before court in due course.
Meanwhile, the Regional Police Command assured the public that operations to remove illegal weapons from our communities will continue.
