President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has called on members of the newly inaugurated Presidential Advisory Group on the Economy (PAGE) to provide honest, independent and evidence-based advice as Ghana works to stabilise and rebuild its economy.

Speaking at the group’s inaugural ceremony on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, President Mahama stressed that Ghana’s economic recovery requires more than political promises; it demands clear thinking, data-driven analysis, and bold but thoughtful policy direction. A report from citinewsroom.com said.

“Your counsel is expected to be frank, independent and evidence-based,” the President said, underscoring the importance of objective assessments and long-term planning in navigating the country’s fiscal and structural challenges.

In a period where global economic pressures remain high, the President noted that strategic insight and credible engagement are critical.

President Mahama further directed that PAGE report directly to him, submitting advisory memoranda, briefs and strategic reviews as needed.

He emphasised that their guidance must always reflect the broader national interest rather than short-term considerations.

The formation of PAGE is expected to strengthen economic governance by giving the Presidency access to seasoned professionals with deep experience in finance, industry, academia, and global economic systems.
