Kofi Ofosu Nkansah is a former CEO of NEIP

A former Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, is expected to appear before court on Thursday, February 12, 2026, after being formally charged by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) with publication of false news.

This was made known by his lawyer, Nana Agyei Baffour-Awuah, during an interview on Asempa FM on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.

He stated that the charge stems from allegations made by Nkansah that an individual paid money to secure a government-sponsored scholarship to study abroad.

“I have just left the BNI. They have formally informed me that they will arraign him before the court tomorrow, by God’s grace. Because of that, they are not granting him bail,” he said.

President John Dramani Mahama had instructed the NIB to investigate claims made by Nkansah concerning alleged irregularities in the award of overseas scholarships.

The claims were made during a discussion on Sompa 106.5 FM.

In a statement dated February 3, 2026, and signed by the Secretary to the President, Dr Callistus Mahama, the Presidency indicated that the allegations had generated significant public interest after the interview circulated widely across media platforms.

As part of the investigation, NIB officials reportedly searched Nkansah’s residence on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, before inviting him to assist with enquiries.

Earlier, GhanaWeb had reported that Nkansah’s lawyer had also stated that his client was admitted at the BNI Clinic after his arrest.
