Police probe suspected arson at Alpha Hour convener’s church auditorium

Following the incident, Pastor Agyemang has suspended all physical activities in the church

The Accra Regional Police Command has launched an investigation into a suspected arson incident at the auditorium of Grace Mountain Ministry, led by Alpha Hour convener Pastor Elvis Agyemang.

The fire incident occurred on February 9, 2026, at a time when the church premises were relatively quiet. According to Police, the suspect allegedly gained access to the auditorium under the guise of praying before setting the place ablaze.

In a statement released on February 11, 2026, Police confirmed the arrest of a woman identified as Kesse Okyerewaa Koranteng in connection with the incident.

Initial findings suggest the suspect entered the auditorium carrying a liquid substance stored in rubber containers. She is said to have poured the substance around parts of the hall and set it alight with matches, triggering the fire.

Police reported that the blaze damaged several items, including air conditioners, chairs, windows, offering boxes, ceiling components, electrical wiring, and the lighting system.

Investigators at the scene retrieved four rubber containers believed to have been used in the act.

The suspect has been cautioned and remains in Police custody as investigations continue. The Accra Regional Police Command has also encouraged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
