The Blend Festival has steadily gained ground as a genuine celebration of Blues & Rock & Roll music, and this year’s edition on Saturday, February 14, at the Polo Club Gardens in Accra, will feature two dynamic Ghanaian female singers: Wiyaala and Maami.
The festival has also become a valuable channel for artistes and audiences to freely express themselves through captivating styles of music.
Wiyaala is known worldwide for her energetic delivery that draws on a wide variety of rhythms.
She appeals to different shades of music enthusiasts. Her participation in this year’s Blues & Rock & Roll is expected to reveal more layers of her broad repertoire.
Maami, whom many also know as Beryl Stephenson of the Patchbay Band, has matured over the years and knows how to get an audience on her side, no matter the sort of material she handles.
She rises to the occasion and is expected to demonstrate the finesse that many admire.
Other acts slated for the programme that kicks off at 6.30 pm include The Blend Band and The Transit DJs. There will also be some surprise guest appearances on the night.
“The Blend Festival is one-of-a-kind. The sort of high octane entertainment it offers is rare on the usual Accra music circuit,” said Panji Anoff, the show’s technical producer. “So it is worth being there for the thrill.”
