The National Youth Authority has launched the first phase of its National Apprenticeship Programme (NAP) in Greater Accra, equipping young Ghanaians with tools to start their vocational careers.

The programme focuses on tailoring, carpentry, electrical work, and beautification trades.

NYA CEO Osman Abdullai Ayariga, Esq., told guests, “By integrating apprenticeships into our national development agenda, we are bridging the gap between education and employment, ensuring that no young Ghanaian is left behind.”

He emphasised that the initiative is part of a broader strategy to empower youth through skills development.

Mr Ayariga explained that the programme is aligned with the NDC manifesto, which prioritises inclusive growth and sustainable job creation.

“All these efforts highlight the importance of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as a driver of industrialisation and poverty reduction,” he added.

He also called on master craft persons, communities, and private sector partners to mentor the apprentices and create pathways for them to thrive in the marketplace.

“The success of this programme depends not only on government but on all of us – our communities, our partners, and our mentors,” he said.
