Akatsi North Assembly supports with GHS148,000

The Akatsi North District Assembly has extended financial support to 25 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) as part of activities marking the birthday of the District Chief Executive (DCE),Bless Katamani.

The gesture formed part of the Assembly’s broader commitment to promoting inclusion, equity and social protection within the district.

At a brief presentation ceremony, a total amount of GHS148,000 was disbursed to the beneficiaries, with individual cheques ranging from GHS2,000 to GHS10,000, depending on the nature of assistance required.

The support is expected to address diverse needs, including educational expenses from basic to tertiary levels, medical care, and capital to support small-scale businesses and vocational activities aimed at improving beneficiaries’ economic independence.

Katamani in an address, reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to empowering vulnerable groups and ensuring that no one was left behind in the development process.

He urged the beneficiaries to utilise the funds strictly for the purposes for which they were awarded, stressing that prudent use of the support would help improve their livelihoods and create sustainable opportunities for themselves and their families.

The DCE encouraged Persons with Disabilities to remain confident, resilient and hopeful, assuring them that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government remained committed to inclusivity and the welfare of all citizens, regardless of physical ability.

He noted that investing in PWDs was not an act of charity but a matter of social justice and equal opportunity.

Some of the beneficiaries, who spoke to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), expressed profound joy and appreciation to the District Chief Executive and the Assembly for what they described as timely and life-changing support.

They pledged to use the funds responsibly to advance their education, improve their health, and expand their businesses to enhance their standard of living.
