Ghana advanced into the final round of the 2026 U20 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers following their win over South Africa.
The Black Princesses secured a 1-0 win in the second leg of the encounter on Saturday, February 14.
The two teams had played out a 2-2 draw in the earlier meeting at the Accra Sports Stadium with the South Africans twice coming from behind to secure a draw.
The Princesses needed a win to ensure they kept their record of being at every World Cup since 2010 alive.
Charles Sampson made four changes to the starting lineup that flayed the first game with Juliana Gyekyewaa, Precious Asante, Latifa Abesik and Mary Amponsah all coming into the team.
Ghana enjoyed a bright start to the game but were denied on several occasions by the South African defence.
Jenna Sarpong was also called into action a few times but she made the needed saves to keep her side in the game.
The two teams went into the break with nothing separating them.
After the recess, the Princesses were forced into a change with Priscilla Mensah taking the place of injured Mary Amponsah.
Priscilla scored 18 minutes after her introduction to give Ghana the advantage.
Despite a late attempt from South Africa, the Black Princesses were able to hold onto their lead, going on to claim a 3-2 aggregate win.
The Princesses will now face one of Zambia or Uganda in the last phase of the qualifiers in April.
