The Bishop Herman of Old Boys Union (BHOBU) North America has rebuilt the college’s entrance gate at Kpando at a cost of GH¢900,000.

The gate, built by the local company Magtona Ltd in six months, was formally handed over to the college amid pomp and celebration.

The President of BHOBU North America, Dr James Doe, said the gate was the first port of call for the college and therefore it must make a good impression on visitors and preserve its sterling image at all times.

“We chose to rebuild the gate to serve as an icon for uplifting the face of the school,” he added.

Dr Doe acknowledged a contribution of more than USD $7,000 from the Past OLA Girls Association (POGA) in North America and said the gesture was very touching and bore testimony to the strong and long bond between Bishop Herman College and OLA Girls Senior High School, Ho.

He announced plans by BHOBU North America to set up an endowment fund later this year to support development projects at their alma mater.

The well-being of the Bishop Herman College, Dr Doe affirmed, would always be a priority to BHOBU North America, which currently has about 200 members.

He urged the college to keep the gate clean at all times.

Gratitude

The Headmaster, Francis Dominic Kudolo, expressed gratitude for the gesture, saying it was overwhelming.

“This is evidence of the love and commitment BHOBU North America has for the college,” he added.

Mr Kudolo said the gate was not just an edifice but also a symbol of identity for future generations who would pass through it.

The headmaster assured that the Bishop Herman College would continue to uphold the values of integrity, hard work, academic excellence, discipline, character formation, and service to humanity, which it has been known for over the decades.

The occasion was graced by Okpekpewuokpe Akpinifiaga, Togbui Dagadu IX, who is also a product of the Bishop Herman College.
