Richard Kumadoe is a security consultant
Security consultant Richard Kumadoe has rejected speculations that recent security incidents could affect relations between Ghana and Burkina Faso, insisting that ties between the two countries remain strong.
Speaking on Good Afternoon Ghana on Metro TV on Monday, February 16, 2026, Kumadoe said the incident should not stir any diplomatic concern.
“No, it wouldn’t suffer at all. We have good relationship with them. We have good political relationship with them,” he said.
According to him, Ghana’s engagement with country remains strong, noting that the government has even appointed an envoy to the region.
“We even have [sent] an envoy to the Sahel region. We don’t have a problem with them,” he added.

Kumadoe further said leaders in the region hold President Mahama, in high regard.
“They see President Mahama as their big brother. President Mahama also sees the three of them as junior brothers,” he stated.
He again revealed that President Mahama has been working to reintegrate the Sahelian states into regional economic structures.
“He’s even working so hard to bring them back into the eco-asphalt,” he said.
Commenting on the killing of seven Ghanaians in Burkina Faso, the security consultant described it as an isolated case linked to lapses in personal safety.

“This is a personal security breach that went on at a particular place we should not be sending anybody to,” he explained.
Kumadoe praised the response of Burkina Faso’s security forces, saying they acted swiftly after the attack.
“And you saw the speed of the response of the military of Burkina Faso. They did not even know there were Ghanaians there but they went after the terrorists, took some of them out and the rest ran away,” he said.
He described the operation as an example of what is needed to deal with security threats in the sub-region.
“This is the response we are talking about. Rapid response, take care of the public safety challenges, and make sure you bring stability,” he noted.
Kumadoe added that, given the circumstances, Burkina Faso’s authorities performed well.
“And irrespective of whatever happens, that is the response we are looking for. And they did a good job under the circumstance,” he said.
