Studio Lead, Director, and Cinematographer at KAC Studios, Daniel James Ofori-Atta, has entreated stakeholders of Christian cinema to evolve beyond traditional faith themes and connect with a wider audience.
Speaking with Graphic Showbiz at a private screening of three movies in Accra over the weekend, Mr Ofori –Atta explained that many existing Christian films were overly concentrated on believers, limiting their impact.
“Most Christian-labelled films are directed specifically at Christians. We aim to create films that transcend faith boundaries, offering meaningful content for believers and non-believers alike.
“Our goal is to make films that resonate with a broader audience,” he said.
The movies premiered were “The Cleaner,” “Mirage,” and “The Right to Do Anything”, produced by KAC Studios, a UK-based creative production house and the official studio of the Kingdom Ambassadors Centre.
KAC Studios is primarily known for producing faith-inspired films, television content, and animations designed to resonate with both religious and secular audiences.
“The Cleaner”, which has been premiered in several notable locations, including London, UK, Düsseldorf, Germany and Harvard University, USA, has already had nearly a million views on YouTube.
The invite-only screening brought together church leaders, investors, and industry stakeholders to engage in meaningful discussions around storytelling, film production and collaboration.
According to Mr Ofori-Atta, KAC Studios aims to revolutionise Christian filmmaking by crafting stories that tackle universal themes like love, mental health and personal struggles, thereby resonating with a wider audience.
“Our goal is to communicate the knowledge and experience of Christ through creative productions that resonate with everyone, not just Christians.
“KAC Studios aims to disrupt the entire creative industry with productions that glorify God,” he said.
This approach, he explained, was intended to expand the scope of Christian entertainment and engage viewers beyond traditional boundaries.
He further stressed the importance of community and collaboration in addressing the gaps in Christian entertainment.
“If creatives across Africa come together with a shared vision, we can produce high-quality content that speaks to diverse audiences,” he stated.
KAC Studios’ film, The Cleaner, has garnered significant international acclaim, amassing nearly one million YouTube views, winning multiple awards, and securing selections at various international festivals.
Brand Lead and Lead Producer, Abiola Kareem, is leveraging this momentum to drive the studio’s expansion, pushing for narratives that resonate globally.
“I have a genuine love for narrative diaspora short films, and so we will be looking at countries such as Nigeria and Kenya, among others,” she said.
