Reports suggest that CCTV footage captured the alleged thief and images are being circulated

Tension erupted at the Mamprobi Polyclinic in the Greater Accra Region on February 17, 2026, following reports of an alleged baby theft.

According to multiple social media accounts, a newborn was taken from the facility by a woman dressed as a nurse.

The baby is said to have been stolen shortly after the mother delivered through a cesarean section.

Videos circulating online show residents, believed to be relatives of the mother, confronting staff at the clinic. They accused the workers of being accomplices in the incident while recording the confrontation.

“Someone gave birth through an operation and you have stolen the child to go and sell it. All of you will suffer. Someone’s child and this hot afternoon you have stolen the child,” one angry woman was heard shouting at the scene.

Reports suggest that CCTV footage captured the alleged thief and images are being circulated to help apprehend the suspect.

Police officers were later seen at the clinic working to restore order and investigate the matter.
