This woman recounted how the suspected newborn thief was arrested by the police
A resident of Dansoman has narrated how police arrested a woman suspected of stealing a newborn at the Mamprobi Polyclinic in the Greater Accra Region.
In a video shared on X by EDHUB on February 18, 2026, she said the suspect called her sister, claiming she had given birth and inviting her over to see the baby.
“The sister, having heard reports of a newborn allegedly stolen from the Mamprobi Polyclinic, quickly reported the matter to the police. Acting on the tip-off, authorities arrested the suspect,” she recounted.
The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, and caused tensions at the health facility.
Police apprehend suspect in Mamprobi baby theft case
Reports indicate that the suspect took advantage of the moment when the baby’s mother, who had undergone a caesarean section, was asleep.
She allegedly entered the ward and picked up the newborn without drawing attention.
CCTV footage from the hospital captured the woman leaving the facility with the baby wrapped in cloth.
The video, widely circulated on social media, showed her calmly walking out of the hospital grounds with the newborn.
