The decision by the Chief Justice to reject calls for the removal of Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson Jean Mensa has been welcomed by the Chief Executive Officer of John Agyekum Kufuor Foundation, Professor Baffour Agyeman-Duah.

He believes the move will strengthen Ghana’s democracy and restore public trust in the electoral process.

Speaking on OTEC FM’s Dwabrem show, Professor Baffour Agyeman-Duah commended the Chief Justice for his decision, describing it as apt for Ghana’s democracy.

“This is even good knowing very well the process passed through all procedural processes in line with the country’s democracy,” he said.

According to him, the decision will dissuade the public from pursuing cheap political agendas and reiterate Ghana’s commitment to democratic principles.

The Chief Justice, Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, had informed President John Dramani Mahama that there is no constitutional basis to remove the EC Chairperson and her deputies, effectively dismissing multiple petitions filed against them.
