President John Dramani Mahama yesterday visited two victims of the Burkina Faso terrorist attack who are currently receiving treatment at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra.
The survivors were among a group of Ghanaian tomato traders travelling on a truck that was ambushed by armed bandits.
The attackers reportedly lined up the men on board, massacred them and set the vehicle ablaze.
President Mahama, accompanied by the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, commiserated with the victims and assured them that the government would cover their medical bills.
The President returned from an assignment in Takoradi and proceeded directly to the hospital to speak with the victims and obtain firsthand information about the incident.
Seven Ghanaians killed in the attack have since been buried. The survivors were transported back to Ghana by the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) last Tuesday.
Authorities said all affected persons were receiving counselling and necessary support, while those who sustained injuries continued to receive medical treatment.
In a statement issued yesterday, the GAF indicated that the evacuation of the three Ghanaian traders who were injured in a terrorist attack in Burkina Faso formed part of ongoing government humanitarian support efforts for citizens affected by the incident.
