Nasara Wing is a special wing within the Party.
Just like the Youth and Women’s wings, It is a “special tool designed” to uniquely recruit Zangos, retain and work with them to ensure they understand who we truly are as a Party; and not the propaganda they are CONSTANTLY fed with by the NDC.
Part of its role as a wing is to connect the Zangos with NPP and to promote the policies and programmes of the party in the Zango Communities in Ghana and abroad.
Note that, our External Branches also have NASARA Coordinators, now Nasara Organisers.
The establishment of the wing is to make certain the party is active and visible in the Zango Communities to gain the trust and confidence of the Zango people and to encourage them to join the Party.
Article 15 clause 5 (b) of the NPP Constitution spells out the responsibilities of the Nasara Wing of the Party.
It is a good read. All aspiring Nasara Organisers should read it and determine whether or not they are suitable for this strategic role.
Tactically, it will be wrong for non-Zango members of the Party to contest for the Nasara Organiser. The Nasara Organiser should be an identifiable Zango; who can easily connect with his people, who understands their culture and tradition, speak the commonly spoken language (Hausa) correctly and can articulate the policies of our party and topical issues without ambiguity.
Even the kind of costume
worn represents a specific Zango character and cultural style. A Nasara Organiser must exemplify a typical ZANGO person.
In constituencies where we do not have Zango communities, members of the party from the minority tribes should be considered for the Nasara Organiser. This motivate the minority to identify with us.
Let me illustrate.
In the Mion Constituency, we have very few Zangos scattered in the constituency. They are Fulanis. Dagbamba are the majority tribe. Konkombas appear to be as large as Dagbamba. Fulanis are settlers across the constituency.
It will be strategically prudent to encourage and support a Fulani member of the Party to become the Nasara Organiser.
The election of a Dagbana or Konkomba as Nasara Organiser in a Dagbamba/Konkomba dominated constituency such as Mion will be counter productive.
Zangos are migrants from Northern Nigeria, Mali, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Niger, Guinea, etc. They migrated to Ghana for trading purposes. Regardless of the diversity of their backgrounds, they still find it necessary to cultivate a sense of unity and solidarity among themselves. They are mainly Muslims and use the Hausa language as their lingua franca.
Some Zango groups/tribes living permanently in Ghana majority of whom are now Ghanaians citizens, are Hausas, Fulanis, Wangaras, Mandes, Bissas, Ligbi, Nafana, Banda, Mosshis, Zabramas, Kotokolis, etc.
