Bekwai: Alleged Galamsey Kingpins Attempt to Bribe NAIMOS Taskforce after Raids and Seizure

The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) has announced the arrest of three suspected galamsey kingpins for attempting to bribe a task force following an anti-galamsey crackdown at an illegal mining site at Kokotro in the Bekwai municipality.

This was on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.

As part of the raid, the task force destroyed all makeshift structures erected by the Galamseyers, two industrial pumping machines and other illegal mining equipment at the site.

Additionally, the task force seized one Liugong excavator, two Liugong monitors and one unregistered motorcycle.

It reported that while the task force was enroute to its base after the day’s operations, three individuals aboard a Black Tundra F150 with registration number GR 4743 – 16 approached and offered to pay GHc119,825.00 for the seized items.

They are said to have claimed ownership of the raided site.

The suspects identified as Emmanuel Koblah, Samuel Addai and Kofi Frimpong were immediately arrested by the NAIMOS task force and handed over to the Bekwai Police Station for further investigations and subsequent prosecution.

Meanwhile, the cash and other seized items, including two excavator monitors and a vehicle, have been conveyed to NAIMOS Headquarters.

“NAIMOS wishes to caution all galamseyers, their financiers and assigns to desist from such bribery schemes since any such attempts and offenders would be arrested without hesitation to face appropriate sanctions.

“The Secretariat also urges the local administrative authorities, especially the security and intelligence agencies, to intensify their monitoring and oversight responsibilities in their respective jurisdictional areas to prevent resumption of the illegal mining activities in the areas already raided by the NAIMOS task forces.”
