The Minister for Works and Housing, Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, has pledged that the government is actively addressing Ghana’s ongoing water supply challenges.

The assurance came during a meeting convened by the Parliamentary Committee on Sanitation and Water Resources, which brought together key stakeholders, including the Ghana Water Company Limited, the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission, community water representatives, and non-governmental organisations.

Minister Adjei explained that the current water crisis is rooted in longstanding structural issues that were not fully tackled by previous administrations.

“We recognise the challenges, and the government is committed to implementing sustainable solutions to ensure all Ghanaians have reliable access to water,” he stated.

The meeting focused on exploring practical strategies to restore consistent water supply and prevent future shortages.

Emphasis was placed on upgrading infrastructure, enhancing maintenance, and improving coordination among relevant agencies.

Specifically, the Minister addressed concerns in Teshie-Nungua, where residents have experienced intermittent water supply due to a malfunctioning treatment plant.

He confirmed that repair works are underway and expected to be completed within days, restoring normal service to the community.
