One person has died after a fully loaded commercial petrol tanker failed to ascend a steep gradient, rolled backwards, and collided with three vehicles at Kaase in Kumasi, Ashanti Region.
The accident on February 19 left four others injured.
The affected cars included a Mazda Van with registration number AS 9412-10, a Toyota Vitz with registration number GT 4275, and a Mazda Van with registration number GW 5768-2.
While the injured were conveyed to the hospital for treatment, the deceased was handed over to the Police for preservation and further investigation.
A crew from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) secured the scene and cleared the wreckage, restoring traffic flow at 1030 hours.
In a statement, the Service said the crew arrived in good time to avert a potential fire and rescue trapped victims.
“GNFS urges motorists to exercise caution, particularly around heavy-duty vehicles on steep roads.”
