The Consolidated Bank Ghana Limited (CBG) has conducted a free health screening exercise targeting about 1,000 residents in the Baatsona and Spintex communities in the Greater Accra Region.

The exercise was focused on helping residents know their blood pressure, diabetes and cholesterol levels.

It was also used to encourage them to take responsibility for their health and give medical advice where necessary.

The health screening formed part of the bank’s effort to promote preventive health care and support Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) three on good health and well-being.

The health screening was held on the premises of Power of Worship International Ministries in Accra.

Responsibility

In an interview with the Daily Graphic during the exercise, the CBG Head of Corporate Communications, Marketing and Brands, Mavis Frempong, who spoke on behalf of the Managing Director, Dr Naomi Wolali Kwetey, said the initiative reflected the bank’s commitment to improving the health status of the communities it served.

“For this first quarter, we are focusing on the health aspect of our CSR policy; hence, these free health screening for about 1,000 people in the first quarter of 2026,” she said.

Mrs Frempong added that CBG remained committed to using its corporate social responsibility programmes to improve lives and strengthen community well-being across the country.

She said the screening primarily targeted church members for that day, but extended to anyone from the surrounding community who walked in.

Mrs Frempong explained that the church location offered an opportunity to reach a large number of people within a short period due to its multiple services, hence the decision to begin the first step of the initiative on the premises.

Preventive health care

Mrs Frempong said the screening focused on key indicators such as blood pressure, diabetes and cholesterol levels and was on the theme: “Know Your Numbers,” which empowered people to take charge of their well-being.

“Your health is very important, and you cannot manage your health if you do not know your health status.”
