UPSA @ 60: Anniversary c’ttee calls on GRA management

A delegation of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), 60th Anniversary Planning Committee has paid a courtesy call on the Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Anthony Kwasi Sarpong, in Accra.

The visit formed part of engagements with relevant establishments towards the 60th anniversary of UPSA.

The UPSA delegation was led by the Chairman of the UPSA anniversary planning committee and Chief Executive Officer of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana (CIMG), Kwabena Agyekum.

The team was received during last Monday’s visit by the GRA Commissioner-General, Mr Sarpong, and the Commissioner in charge of Domestic Tax Revenue Division of the GRA, Dr Martin Kolbil Yambrigya, and other management staff.

The two senior officials of the GRA are alumni of the professional training tertiary institution.

Commendation

Mr Agyekum congratulated the leadership of GRA on their appointments, and commended the authority’s work, emphasising the growing impact of UPSA graduates across national institutions.

The Vice-Chairman of the Planning Committee and President of the UPSA Global Alumni Association, Francis Dadzie, highlighted the purpose of the visit and officially invited the GRA to the UPSA @60 anniversary celebrations.

He announced that the UPSA would launch a new Institute of Professional Studies (IPS) on campus to mimic the original name of the university, on March 17, 2026, while a public annual lecture and business conference would be held in May.

The Asantehene, an alumnus of UPSA, is expected to attend the celebrations.

In his remarks, Dr Yambrigya praised UPSA for its strong leadership and discipline, indicating that his pride as an alumnus, and pledging to mobilise GRA alumni to support the anniversary activities.

He also shared fond memories from his student days.

Members of the UPSA delegation included Prof. Fidelis Quansah, Director, IPS; Dr Mrs Leticia Akyeampong, Deputy Director, Administration, and Dr Mrs Juliana A. Andoh.
