Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is a former President of Ghana

Exactly one year ago, former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo urged his appointees to make themselves available for accountability whenever the need arose.

This call was disclosed by Richard Ahiagbah, Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party, during an interview with JoyNews.

The Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party, Richard Ahiagbah, has publicly disclosed a directive from former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to government appointees, urging them to comply with it.

According to him, the former president has directed all appointees to make themselves available for accountability to the ruling government and to assist with any investigations that may arise.

Ahiagbah reiterated Akufo-Addo’s commitment to ensuring that appointees account for their actions and records while upholding the law, emphasising that all appointees are expected to meet the highest standards. He assured that the appointees would be available to address any matters related to accountability.

“Matters to do with accountability, our people will be here to answer them. In fact, there is an effective commitment right from the former president himself. He has given directives to ensure that our people are available to do that.

“I don’t want to go into the details of what he said but there is that disposition and indication from him [Akufo-Addo] that we should stay and account for our record,” he told JoyNews on February 19, 2025.

The NPP stalwart further added that former President Akufo-Addo firmly believes that his government prioritised the country’s interests and successfully fulfilled its mandate, asserting that posterity will be the judge of his actions and tenure.
