The Minister for the Interior, Mohammed Muntaka-Mubarak, has launched the Automated Fire Safety Compliance System (AFCAS), a new digital platform designed to transform fire safety compliance in Ghana.
Speaking at the launch, Mr Muntaka-Mubarak stressed that fire safety is not optional but a national necessity that protects lives and property while also strengthening investor confidence.
He explained that AFCAS marks a major shift from manual and fragmented processes to a digital, standardised and technology-driven fire safety compliance regime.
According to the minister, the system is expected to help the Ghana National Fire Service improve its engagement with the public, streamline inspections, reduce turnaround times and enhance service delivery across homes, businesses and public institutions.
Mr Muntaka-Mubarak noted that the initiative aligns with the government’s broader policy of using technology to make doing business easier and to guarantee the security of investments in the country.
He commended the leadership and personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service for their vision and commitment in bringing the project to fruition, and urged property owners, regulatory bodies and the general public to fully support the implementation of AFCAS.
“Fire safety is a shared responsibility,” he stated.
The Chief Fire Officer, Daniella Mawusi Ntow Sarpong, said the system would significantly improve service delivery, revenue generation and interaction with clients.
She explained that before the introduction of AFCAS, fire safety compliance processes were handled manually, a situation that came with several challenges.
Madam Sarpong expressed confidence that the benefits of the new digital system would be far-reaching for both the Fire Service and the public.
