The Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, has been officially discharged from the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) following a harrowing road accident earlier this week.
He was discharged shortly after a visit by President John Dramani Mahama at the hospital.
The influential monarch was given a clean bill of health by medical experts after undergoing intensive clinical assessments following his evacuation to the capital.
The King was involved in a serious motor accident on the evening of Tuesday, 17th February 2026, while returning to Accra from what palace officials described as an urgent mission. The incident occurred in the Oti Region, sparking immediate concern across the Ga State and the nation at large.
Details from the Office of the Ga Mantse indicated that the accident occurred as the King’s convoy navigated the Pai-Katanga stretch of the Oti highway.
The King travelled to the Northern Region on a private visit at the invitation of the Ya Naa, a trip aimed at deepening traditional unity between the Ga and Dagbon kingdoms.
Despite the impact, the Office of the Ga Mantse confirmed that there were no fatalities. The King and his aides were assisted by the Ghana Police Service and royal staff present at the scene before being transported to Accra for specialised care.
Upon arrival at the UGMC, the King and his entourage underwent a series of medical checks. According to a statement signed by the Chief of Protocol and Communications, Amb. (Sir) S.J.K. Parker-Allotey, the recovery has been swift.
His Royal Majesty has directed his office to extend profound appreciation to the emergency responders and the medical team who managed the crisis. He also expressed deep thanks to the public for the outpouring of prayers and well-wishes received since Tuesday.
The King’s discharge marks the end of a tense week for the Ga Traditional Council.
With the King now back at his residence, the Ga State prepares for his first public appearance following the accident.
