All students injured during the violent clash at the District Schools Athletics Games in Agona Swedru have received medical treatment and have since returned safely to school, the Central Regional Director of Education has confirmed.
Speaking on the AM Show on JoyNews, Juliette Dufie Otami said the affected students are now stable and under proper supervision.
“They have all been treated, and they have all been brought back to the schools, and they are okay now,” she stated. “As we speak now, all those who were injured were sent to the hospital, received the appropriate medical care, and were discharged.”
Dr Otami explained that some of the students were discharged on Saturday, while others were released from the hospital on Sunday after responding well to treatment.
According to her, the parents of the injured students were invited by school authorities and have expressed satisfaction with how the situation was handled.
“Their parents were invited. They have come to look at their children, and they are satisfied with what management of the schools has done,” she added.
Her comments follow a violent incident that occurred on 19 February 2026 during the District Schools Athletics Games in Agona Swedru, in the Central Region.
A student of Obrachire Senior High Technical School was reportedly attacked by a group of students from Swedru School of Business (SWESBUS). The victim was pelted with stones and beaten with sticks, sustaining injuries that required hospitalisation.
The incident, which was captured in videos circulating on social media, sparked public outrage and renewed concerns about safety and discipline at inter-school sporting events.
Police have since launched investigations into the clash, while education authorities in the region have been working with school heads to restore calm and prevent further disturbances.
Dr Otami assured the public that the Ghana Education Service (GES) is taking steps to strengthen supervision and safety measures at school activities.
She noted that affected students are back in class and receiving the necessary support from school management and guidance officers.
