Ghanaian music executive and founder of D Global Records, David Mensah, has made a strong entry into the music industry with the release of Darkest Style, the label’s debut single featuring award-winning artiste Lasmid.

The song, released on Friday across major streaming platforms, serves as the lead single from an upcoming album under D Global Records. Since its debut, it has recorded impressive early success, topping Apple Music Ghana charts and ranking among trending songs on Audiomack Ghana, reflecting strong listener engagement nationwide.

Beyond streaming, Darkest Style has also gained massive traction on social media, generating more than 100,000 user-created videos on TikTok and Instagram. Its upbeat rhythm and dance appeal have inspired viral challenges, influencer participation, and widespread fan content.

Serving as Executive Producer, Mr Mensah led the creative and strategic direction of the project, reinforcing his vision of building a brand focused on quality, cultural relevance, and global reach. The song was produced by his long-time collaborator, Afrolektra, whose Afrobeats-inspired production blends melody, rhythm, and dance energy.

Even before its official release, the track had begun gaining traction online, setting the stage for its current popularity. With catchy hooks, playful lyrics, and a feel-good theme centred on love and dance culture, the song continues to grow across radio, streaming platforms, and social media.

Speaking on the release, David Mensah described the project as a foundation for the label’s future.

“This project represents the foundation of what D Global Records stands for. Our goal is to create music that connects with people, competes globally, and builds a lasting legacy. The response so far has been overwhelming, and this is only the beginning,” he said.

Industry observers say the strong performance of Darkest Style highlights the growing influence of independent labels and digital platforms in shaping Ghana’s music landscape, especially among young audiences.
