Ketu South Municipal Health Directorate project takes off

 Work has begun on the Ketu South Municipal Health Directorate project at Aflao in the Volta Region.

The GH¢₵14million two-storey project, scheduled to be completed in 18 months, is being funded by a philanthropist, Felix Akonta Akakpo, a native of Lente-Wute, in Aflao.

It is being implemented in collaboration with a non-governmental organisation, Akonta Foundation, the Ghana Health Service (GHS) and the Ketu South Municipal Assembly.

The Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, who cut the sod at the project site, paid tribute to Mr Akakpo for his continued commitment to the development of Ketu South.

He described the interventions as a shining model of responsible citizenship and patriotism.

Mr Akakpo has, over the years, constructed classroom blocks, a police station and various social amenities in the municipality.

Worthy son

The Paramount Chief of Aflao, Torgbui Adzonugaga Amenya Fiti V, paid a similar tribute to Mr Akakpo, saying he was a worthy son and jewel of the soil.

He urged other public-spirited individuals and corporate bodies to emulate the shining example of Mr Akakpo and help lift Ketu South to greater heights.

The Volta Regional Director of Health, Dr Emmanuel Atsu Dordor, said the project was a great cause for joy.

For his part, Mr Akakpo renewed his pledge to vigorously support development projects in the area.

In that regard, he donated 400 bags of cement in aid of infrastructural projects in eight schools in the area.

The beneficiary schools are Agblekpui M.A. Basic School, Anoenu M.A. Basic School, Kporpeyia M.A. Basic School and Tublukope M.A. Basic School.

The rest are Yame M.A. Basic School, Akame M.A. Basic School, Yelibato M.A. Basic School and Huime-Agordome M.A. Basic Schoo
