President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Aaron Kanor as Ag. Commissioner, Customs Division with immediate effect.
Mr Kanor is an accomplished Customs professional with over three decades of distinguished service in revenue mobilisation, border security, and trade facilitation at GRA. He has a wealth of experience, strategic insight, and dedication to Public Service.
His appointment as Ag. Commissioner of the Customs Division reflects a career defined by integrity, operational excellence, and strategic leadership.
Prior to his appointment, Mr Kanor served as Officer in Charge of Port Operations, where he oversaw critical Customs functions including enforcement of customs laws, revenue collection, and trade facilitation.
His leadership has contributed significantly to strengthening border security systems and enhancing compliance within Ghana’s international trade environment.
Over the years, Mr Kanor has held several key leadership positions across the country, including Sector Commander at the Kotoka International Airport and Wa Collections, and Chief Revenue Officer in multiple operational areas.
In these roles, he spearheaded intelligence-led operations that curtailed smuggling, uncovered invoice falsification schemes, and disrupted criminal syndicates involved in vehicle identification manipulation.
These efforts resulted in improved revenue performance and strengthened national security.
Mr Kanor has also played an instrumental role in advancing modernisation initiatives within the Customs Division, including electronic valuation systems and strategic projects that improved operational efficiency and reduced cargo clearance turnaround times.
His work has contributed to aligning Ghana’s customs administration with international best practices and facilitating legitimate trade.
In a statement, the GRA said his appointment marks a significant step in strengthening Customs administration, improving compliance, and supporting Ghana’s economic growth through efficient and secure trade systems, bringing renewed spirit and direction to the Customs Division.
“The Board, Management and staff congratulate Mr Kanor in his new role and express gratitude to the outgoing Commissioner of Customs, Brigadier General Glover Ashong Annan, for his leadership at the Customs Division.”
