Police confirm arrest of three students over assault on Obrachire SHS student in viral video

Three students of the Swedru School of Business in the Central Region have been arrested following a meeting between the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, and school authorities. 

The arrests occurred on Monday, February 23, 2026, around 9:00 p.m. when school management handed over the suspects to the Swedru Divisional Police Command. The students have been identified as Joseph Amoh, 20 years, Benedict Appiah, 18 years and Bilal Mamud, 18 years.

In a statement signed by Chief Inspector Isaac Evans Ettie of the Public Affairs Unit of the Central Regional Command, the Police confirmed that the suspects are in custody and will be put before court. The Command condemned the conduct of the students and urged the public, particularly young people, to desist from acts of violence. 

Authorities emphasized their commitment to maintaining discipline and ensuring safety within schools and communities.
