Musah Superior believes Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is on track to unifying the NPP
Former Tamale Mayor, Musah Superior, has defended moves by former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to engage a broad spectrum of Ghanaians, describing the outreach as “good politics” that should be encouraged rather than criticised.
According to Musah Superior, it cannot be politically wrong for Dr Bawumia to reach out to citizens across political, ethnic and social divides, regardless of whether they support him or not.
“It cannot be wrong politically for Dr Bawumia to reach out to all Ghanaians whether they like him or not. Let’s encourage him to reach out more. It is good politics,” he stated.
His comments come at a time when Dr Bawumia has been engaging various groups and communities following the 2024 general elections, as political parties begin repositioning themselves for the future.
Musah Superior, who previously served as Mayor of Tamale, stressed that inclusive engagement is a necessary ingredient in democratic leadership.
He suggested that political actors must be willing to step beyond their core support base if they are to build national cohesion and broaden their appeal.
Political observers say such endorsements from influential party figures could signal internal efforts to consolidate support and strengthen grassroots connections ahead of future electoral contests.
Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, who is the New Patriotic Party’s presidential candidate for the 2028 Election, has in recent months intensified public interactions, meeting party faithful, traditional leaders and other stakeholders across the country.
Musah Superior’s remarks add to the ongoing conversation about the direction of opposition politics and the importance of rebuilding trust and expanding engagement beyond partisan lines.
