The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party(NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, has accused the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) of relying heavily on propaganda to secure victory in the 2024 general elections.

Speaking on Oyerepa Radio, Kodua Frimpong argued that propaganda has historically been a decisive factor in his party’s electoral contests.

“All through history, from when we were contesting with the CPP and even during the time of former President Kufuor, propaganda has always been what makes us lose elections,” he stated, referencing the ideological and political battles between the NPP and the Convention People’s Party as well as the NDC.

According to him, the 2024 elections followed a similar pattern. He alleged that the NDC strategically amplified controversial national issues to portray the NPP as incompetent and corrupt.

“In 2024, the NDC used propaganda, National Cathedral, LGBTQ+, Agenda 111, against us, saying we were incompetent,” he said. He further noted that the NDC accused the NPP administration of misappropriating public funds and promised to retrieve the alleged stolen monies upon assuming office.

“They said we had stolen and that they would reclaim the money, and up to now we have not seen anything yet,” he asserted.

Kodua Frimpong also cited the NDC’s flagship “24-hour economy” policy as an example of what he described as campaign rhetoric that has yet to materialise.

“They promised a 24-hour economy, and up to now we have not seen anything yet on it,” he added, insisting that the policy was primarily a campaign strategy rather than an actionable framework.

He concluded that the NDC’s electoral success was largely driven by narrative framing rather than substantive policy superiority. “It was propaganda which was used to win the election,” he maintained.
