The Member of Parliament for the Ofoase Ayirebi constituency on the ticket of the NPP, Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has waded into the ongoing discussion on cocoa prices.
Speaking with Jibsam on Gh Page TV, the former minister for information noted that per his checks, the stories that revolve around the prices of cocoa no longer make sense in relation to the cocoa prices.
The politician noted that before the leadership of former president Akufo-Addo, “cocoa bags were being bought by COCOBOD at 475 seeds”.
However, according to him, under the leadership of former president Akufo-Addo, cocoa prices were increased despite the inflation reduction among other factors.
“And the NPP administration that inherited the 475 despite inflation reducing in some of the years and all of the other things we increased it all the way to 3100”, he stated.
Kojo Oppong Nlrumah shared that despite their diligence and zeal to make Ghana a better place, the NDC peddled lies about them that they were using the state’s money for their gluttony.
According to Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the people of Ghana voted for the NDC to make things right, but anytime he visits his village, all he sees is disappointment on the faces of cocoa farmers.
“I go to my cocoa villages and the cocoa farmer is not impressed”, he stated.
