Eight National Security Operatives and two civilians were arrested on February 19, 2026, at Gomoa Akotsi in the Central Region for allegedly preventing a landowner from developing her property.
The accused, stationed at the Ga West District Assembly in Amasaman, Accra, were charged with four counts, including use of force, violence, and conspiracy to commit a crime.
The incident occurred while the complainant, a Ghanaian trader, was constructing a fence wall on the disputed land, which she claims to have acquired from the Chief of Gomoa Akotsi.
According to the prosecution, the accused arrived at the scene in two vehicles, dressed in khaki trousers and black T-shirts bearing National Security badges, and armed with pepper spray, a taser, and handcuffs.
They allegedly ordered the workers to stop construction and leave the area, but the workers resisted, resulting in the arrest of two civilians.
The complainant promptly reported the incident to the Ojobi Police Station, and the police mobilized a team to the scene. Although the accused had fled initially, they were later pursued and arrested within the Akotsi township.
The accused appeared before the Kasoa Ofaakor Circuit Court on February 20, 2026, presided over by Her Honor Nana Asantewaa Attakorah, and were remanded into police custody for two weeks. They pleaded not guilty to the charges, and their counsel, Ignatius Kutu Acheampong, has filed a bail application scheduled for February 27, 2026.
The prosecution’s brief suggests that the complainant had lawful ownership of the land and was entitled to develop it. The accused are expected to face trial, which will allow the court to determine the rightful owner of the disputed property.
