Morton personally visited the disputed site after receiving repeated complaints
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Assembly, Samuel Tetteh Kwashie Morton, has stepped in to halt the alleged blockage of a major access road at Golf City, following heightened tensions between residents and a private automobile company.
According to a news report shared by multiple award-winning media personality and broadcast journalist Patrice Amegashie on social media on February 26, 2026, last, Sunday on February 22, 2026, Morton personally visited the disputed site after receiving repeated complaints from residents about ongoing works by ZONDA, a Chinese automobile firm operating in the area.
According to Patrice Amegashie , residents alleged that the company had instructed workers to completely cut off a key route serving the community, forcing commuters to take significantly longer alternative paths to reach their destinations.
The development reportedly sparked anger among locals, who described the action as an attempt to unlawfully annex a designated public road.
Upon arrival, the MCE is reported to have directed workers to immediately halt all activities related to the alleged encroachment. The intervention was carried out under the supervisory mandate of the Ministry of Roads and Highways.
The report further detailed that, some residents claim the landowner had fenced off the area in a bid to extend her plot boundaries.
They further alleged that the move was accompanied by attempts to intimidate community leaders, including the reported arrest of a former Assembly Member, an action residents say created fear among locals.
Community members also pointed to the presence of electricity transmission poles within the disputed area.
According to them, the poles were procured by residents and professionally installed by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to supply power to the neighbourhood. They allege that the erection of a fence wall has since obstructed access and severed power lines.

“Preliminary checks, including satellite assessments, reportedly indicate the existence of a designated road measuring slightly over 400 metres within the contested area. Residents believe this confirms claims that the route is a public access road and not private property.”
Addressing the community, Morton assured residents that due process would be followed and pledged to ensure that the right measures are taken to protect public infrastructure and community access routes.
