The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has ordered the immediate suspension of the Principal of the Nurses and Midwifery Training College at Nalerigu following preliminary findings of unauthorised admissions at the institution.
The directive was issued on Thursday during the Minister’s working visit to the Upper East, North-East and Northern Regions, where he is currently touring health facilities and training institutions to assess operations and service delivery.
According to a statement released by the Ministry’s Head of Public Relations, Isaac Ofei Baah, the Minister had earlier been briefed about alleged admission irregularities at the College.
Upon visiting the school, he ordered the suspension of the Head of the institution pending further investigations.
“The Minister stressed that adherence to established admission protocols is non-negotiable and warned that any Head of institution found engaging in unauthorised practices will face strict sanctions,” the statement read.
Mr Akandoh reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to transparency, accountability and the maintenance of high standards in health training institutions across the country.
