President John Dramani Mahama has announced plans to construct three new airports in three regions.
The facilities will be constructed in Sunyani, Bolgatanga, and Wa.
Addressing parliament on the State of the Nation on February 27, 2026, he said work will soon commence.
In Sunyani, he explained that the current location of the existing airport is not appropriate for extending the runway.
“So we have to move and build a new airport at a different location.”
In Bolgatanga, he said a site had been acquired with work ready to commence.
He added, “In Wa, we have to move the airport from where it is because it almost intersects the road, and the airport slopes upward and is inappropriate for air travel.”
