The unique shoe of the IGP that has gotten many talking

The first question some people have asked about the choice of shoe the Inspector General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, decided to wear to the 2026 State of the Nation Address has been, ‘What exactly were people looking for at the feet of the IGP,’ but others have also been swift with their answers; ‘Why not?’

And that is how conversations have been going online regarding that black shoe of the IGP, but it also because it is not a very common, or even, regular shoe.

The SONA is part of the constitutional requirements of the president, as captured in Article 67, which states: “The President shall, at the beginning of each session of Parliament and before a dissolution of Parliament, deliver to Parliament a message on the state of the nation.”

This will be John Dramani Mahama’s second in his second term of presidency, but when the IGP stepped down from his car at the premises of the Parliament House, in Accra, and the flashes from the professional lenses of the photographers captured him, one thing caught many eyes, more than usual.

It was an elongation from the back side of the IGP’s all black shoe. Plaited in gold, this coiled elongation on the shoe has gotten many asking questions.

GhanaWeb’s search online showed that the shoe is most probably a Sanders branded shoe; George Spur Unisex Black Polishing Leather Spur Box Heel George Boot.

And according to sanders-uk.com, the selling price of the shoe is $409.93 with a listed delivery fee stated as ‘from $53.91.’

While it is not confirmed by GhanaWeb that this is the exact make of shoe IGP Christian Tetteh Yohuno wore, there is little difference between the two shoes (the one captured in the photo and the Sanders brand).
