Oliver Barker-Vormawor is a layer and activist
Lawyer and social activist, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, has advised the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to exercise caution, claiming the Ghana Police Service have served notice of intended arrests of anti-galamsey protesters.
In a Facebook post dated February 27, 2026, he claimed that the police had given notice of their intention to apprehend demonstrators involved in the anti-illegal mining campaign.
He warned the NDC party not to allow itself to be drawn into what he described as a calculated move by the law enforcement agency.
‘NDC’s lazy attitude to galamsey fight will undo them’ – Barker-Vormawor
“The Ghana Police has given notice that it intends to arrest Stop Galamsey protesters today. NDC, it’s a trap. Don’t let the police lead you down this path. I know how it ends. I’ve seen the movie,” he stated.
His remarks come at a time of renewed public agitation against illegal mining activities, commonly known as “galamsey”, which continue to pose environmental and health challenges.
The police are yet to officially respond to Barker-Vormawor’s comments ahead of the planned protest.
