The Ghana Embassy in Doha has directed all Ghanaians living in Qatar to take immediate shelter following a series of missile attacks launched by Iran across the Gulf region, the mission confirmed in an urgent security alert on Saturday, February 28, 2026.
In the statement, the Embassy advised Ghanaians to stay indoors, avoid crowded areas and military sites, and stock essential supplies such as food and medication “until further notice.”
“Due to missile attacks and their impact in Doha, please take shelter until further notice and obtain information from official sources,” the release said, adding that citizens could reach the mission via emergency hotlines — +974 44 36 44 86 and +974 70 13 62 81 — or email at doha@mfa.gov.gh.
The alert follows a wave of Iranian missile strikes targeting US military bases across the Gulf, including Qatar, in retaliation for a joint US-Israel operation in Tehran earlier on Saturday. Among the targeted facilities was the Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar, a key hub for US Central Command.
Qatar’s Defence Ministry said it successfully intercepted several incoming missiles and confirmed that no casualties have been reported.
Hamad International Airport also suspended operations temporarily following the closure of Qatari airspace.
The Ghanaian Embassy’s alert aligns with warnings from other countries, including the US, which ordered its citizens in Doha to shelter in place and monitor official updates closely.
Ghanaians in Qatar are urged to follow Embassy updates, avoid unnecessary travel, ensure phones are charged, and inform family members of their status.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Accra is expected to issue further guidance as the situation develops.
