Fifi Fiavi Kwetey is the General Secretary of NDC
The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, has criticised Members of Parliament (MPs) regarding the issue of vote buying during primary elections, saying that they are in no position to lecture others on that action.
The statement was made during an interview with Citi FM during an engagement with the Volta caucus ahead of the March by-election, asserting that each MP, one way or the other, has engaged in a vote-buying activity.
Majority calls for annulment of Ayawaso East parliamentary primaries
“Our friends in Parliament cannot pretend to be holy. Every single one of them has been involved in their primaries. So, the last group to pontificate about vote-buying should not be them at all. So, let’s ensure that if there is a comprehensive solution, we find it together, “he said
The secretary’s remarks stem from the demand from the Majority Caucus for the annulment of the Ayawaso East NDC primary, citing that voters were influenced.
Fiavi Kwetey mentioned that the majority caucus supports the party’s official decision to go ahead with the by-election and maintain Mohammed Baba Jamal as its candidate.

“I believe that they are on board, because the party has taken a position,” he stated.
The by-election was held as a result of the death of the sitting MP, Nasser Toure, in January.
The candidate of the NDC is determined to replace the deceased MP, but is faced with competition from the candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Baba Ali Yussif.
