Daniel Forrester and late Ghanaian fiancee Caroline
Daniel Forrester, a British man from Romford, Essex, has reached 99 days in his journey from London to Ghana.
Nearly 100 days after stepping out of London, Daniel is on the verge of a historic milestone as he nears the African Continent.
In a post on X Ghana on February 27, 2026, it was Day 99 of his ambitious trek from the United Kingdom to West Africa.

Daniel excited about the experience prepares to make his first physical entry into the African continent.
“London to Ghana by Foot: Day 99 Daniel is in high spirits as he will soon make his first entry into Africa…Daniel is embarking on a journey to walk from London to Ghana, carrying the ashes of his late fiancée Caroline (a Ghanaian, who passed away in November 2024 after battling colorectal cancer in England,” the caption on the post read.
While the physical feat is staggering, the heartbeat of this journey is a deeply personal promise kept to a woman he loved.
Public urged to engage in regular health check for early detection of cancer
Daniel’s fiancée, Caroline, a Ghanaian national, passed away in November 2024 after a courageous battle with colorectal cancer.
On her deathbed, Daniel made a solemn vow to her.
He is fulfilling that promise by walking thousands of miles, carrying Caroline’s ashes back to her ancestral home in Ghana.
He is walking to raise awareness and vital charity funds for St. Francis Hospice in Romford, England.
The hospice provided Caroline with end-of-life care during her final months, and Daniel’s trek serves as a way to give back to the institution that supported them during their darkest hours.
“Every mile walked represents a contribution toward ensuring other families receive the same compassionate care,” he said.
As Daniel transitions from the European leg of his journey to the African soil, the challenges will shift from the cold climates of the north to the rugged terrain and heat of the Sahara and the West African coast.
However, with 99 days of momentum behind him and the memory of Caroline guiding his steps, Daniel remains resolute.
