The Municipal Chief Executive for New Juaben North, Samuel Adongo, has urged the youth and master craftsmen to fully embrace the National Apprenticeship Programme (NAP), describing it as a key strategy to tackle youth unemployment.

The National Apprenticeship Programme is expected to empower young people with practical skills, promote self-employment, and strengthen the local economy.

Addressing participants during the distribution of the first batch of training equipment to beneficiaries in the municipality on Saturday February 28, 2026, he said, “The apprenticeship initiative is designed to provide practical training in various vocational fields, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical installation, and tailoring,”

He urged beneficiaries to take the training seriously and use it as a stepping stone toward securing sustainable livelihoods.

He noted that the programme aligns with the ‘Resetting Agenda’ of President John Dramani Mahama, which prioritises job creation and skills development as part of broader efforts to reduce unemployment among the youth.

Adongo further encouraged master craftsmen involved in the programme to remain committed to providing quality mentorship and hands-on training to ensure beneficiaries acquire the competencies needed to succeed.

Some of the participating master craftsmen welcomed the initiative, describing it as timely and necessary.

They expressed confidence that the programme would help reduce youth unemployment and pledged their support to ensure its success through proper training and supervision.

The National Apprenticeship Programme is expected to empower young people with practical skills, promote self-employment, and strengthen the local economy.
