Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, better known as Nana Agradaa or “Mama Pat,” is a controversial Ghanaian religious figure a former traditional priestess turned evangelist who drew widespread attention for money-doubling rituals and televangelism. She was convicted on charges including charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretences.
In July 2025, a Circuit Court in Accra sentenced her to 15 years’ imprisonment with hard labour after finding her guilty of defrauding worshippers by promising to double their money a decision that became one of the biggest religious fraud cases in recent Ghanaian news.
Her legal team appealed that sentence, arguing it was excessive. In early February 2026, the Amasaman High Court reduced the sentence to 12 calendar months, taking into account time already served.
Under Ghana’s remission policy rules that allow prisoners to be freed after serving two-thirds of their term Agradaa became eligible for release earlier than the original date. Her lawyer publicly confirmed she would be released from Nsawam Female Prison on March 3, 2026.
On the eve of her release, her church, Heaven Way Champion International Ministry, was filled with congregants celebrating and preparing to welcome her back. Her husband also unveiled T-shirts and coordinated arrangements for her return home
As of today, she is out of prison and likely reunited with family and supporters. There’s been a strong public reaction, especially online, including viral clips and commentary about predictions that her release would happen this way
