GCB Bank PLC has extended support to Muslim communities across many regions during Ramadan, reinforcing its position as a truly national institution.
As part of this year’s observance, the Managing Director of GCB Bank, Farihan Alhassan, accompanied by members of the Executive Management Committee and staff, paid a courtesy visit to the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, at his residence in Fadama, Accra.
The visit reflected the bank’s enduring relationship with the Muslim community and its continued respect for spiritual leadership in Ghana.
Beyond presenting donations, the delegation sought prayers and guidance for the bank and the nation during the sacred month.
The bank’s Ramadan outreach extended far beyond the capital. Across the Northern and Savannah regions, GCB supported key Muslim communities in Tamale, Yendi, Mio, and Damango, reaffirming its footprint and presence in communities that span the length and breadth of the country.
Beneficiary mosques included the Tamale Central Mosque, Ambariyya Mosque, Sheikh Lucman Bamba Mosque, and Sheikh Abu Dijaana Mosque.
Donations comprised essential Ramadan supplies such as sugar, milk, Milo, cooking oil, and cash contributions to support Iftar and other religious activities.
The contributions are designed not only to ease the operational responsibilities of mosque leadership but also to support the less privileged during this sacred period of fasting, reflection, and generosity.
Speaking during the engagement with the Chief Imam, the Managing Director emphasised that GCB Bank’s Ramadan support was not a one-off gesture but part of a longstanding national tradition of standing with communities during significant religious and cultural moments.
Mr Alhassan said the initiative reflected the bank’s belief in unity, renewal, and peaceful coexistence — values that underpin both the holy month of Ramadan and Ghana’s broader social fabric.
In response, Sheikh Sharubutu expressed heartfelt appreciation for the bank’s continued support, acknowledging the positive impact such contributions have on mosque leaders and vulnerable members of the community.
He offered prayers for the sustained growth and wisdom of the bank’s board, management, and staff, asking for continued prosperity and impact.
Similarly, the Northern Regional Chief Imam, Sheikh Ahmed Abdul-Salam, commended the bank’s outreach across the region, stating that the donations would significantly support community coordination and welfare efforts during Ramadan.
Through this nationwide initiative, GCB Bank is once again a partner in community development, national cohesion, and shared prosperity.
