Two suspects are in police custody after they were caught attempting to forcibly open the private vehicle of a Court of Appeal Judge at his residence in Kumasi.
Preliminary investigations indicate the suspects, identified as Patrick Alor (23) and Akwasi Gyamfi (21), scaled the fence wall of the Judge’s residence, wielding cutlasses and a pair of scissors and attempted to forcibly open the judge’s private vehicle on March 3, 2026, around 11:30 p.m.
They were spotted by the bodyguard on duty, who foiled the act.
“In the process of effecting their arrest, the suspects attempted to disarm the officer. Acting in self-defence and in accordance with Police operational procedures, the bodyguard discharged his firearm, resulting in gunshot wounds to the left and right legs of the suspects respectively.”
The suspects were conveyed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Kumasi, where they are currently on admission and responding to treatment under police guard.
While commending the bodyguard for his vigilance, professionalism, and bravery, the Ashanti Regional Police Command assured the public of its continued commitment to protecting members of the judiciary and all citizens and urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
