Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service Komenda Fire Station responded to the distress call shortly after 7:15 pm. Upon arrival, firefighters found that an Opel Astra travelling from Cape Coast to Komenda had collided head-on with a Nissan Mini Bus heading in the opposite direction.

Ten passengers aboard the mini bus had already been rescued by passersby and transported to the Elmina Poly Clinic for medical attention.

The driver of the Opel Astra, who had been trapped in the wreckage, was successfully extricated by the fire service rescue team and later conveyed to the same health facility by the National Ambulance Service (Ghana).

The injured, comprising nine men and two women, sustained varying degrees of injuries.

Firefighters also cleared debris from the roadway to restore the free flow of traffic. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
