The government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have identified two Ghanaians among four individuals injured by a drone strike from the ongoing war between Iran and Israel with the backing of the United States.
According to a statement by the Dubai Media Office, two drones landed within the vicinity of the airporton Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
It confirmed that the victims suffered minor to moderate injuries.
Others injured in the strike include one Bangladeshi national and one Indian national.
“The competent authorities have confirmed the downing of two drones in the vicinity of Dubai International Airport (DXB), resulting in minor injuries to two individuals of Ghanaian nationality and one Bangladeshi individual, as well as a moderate injury to one individual of Indian nationality.”
Meanwhile, it reported that the airport has resumed flight operations.
This is the second time a drone strike has interrupted flight operations. The first was recorded on Saturday after an aerial drone, reportedly launched from Tehran, was intercepted near the airport.
Viral videos portrayed the said drone striking the runway of the airport before smoke began to billow.
It is reported that the UAE’s air defence systems had detected 1,475 drones sent by Iran since the start of hostilities on Saturday, February 28.
