The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has launched a new digital platform aimed at strengthening regulation and transparency within Ghana’s courier and logistics industry.

The platform, known as the Integrated Courier and Logistics Management System – Ghana (iCOLMS-GH), was introduced by the Postal and Courier Services Regulatory Commission to modernise oversight of the rapidly growing delivery sector and enhance safety within the country’s e-commerce ecosystem.

The Minister said the courier and logistics industry has become a critical backbone of Ghana’s digital economy, connecting businesses and consumers across the country. However, he noted that the rapid growth of online shopping and delivery services has also exposed regulatory gaps, including the emergence of unregistered operators whose activities undermine legitimate businesses and erode consumer trust.

Mr. Nartey George explained that the iCOLMS-GH platform introduces a fully digital and paperless licensing regime, enabling courier companies and individual riders to apply for licences, renew registrations and verify their regulatory status online.

The system integrates with national digital platforms including Ghana.GOV and the National Identification Authority, with future integration planned with the Traffitech-GH platform of the Ghana Police Service.

He said the platform will also allow members of the public to verify the legitimacy of courier companies and delivery riders before entrusting them with valuable items.

“For the consumer, security  the currency of e-commerce  is what this digital platform guarantees,” the Minister said.

He urged operators to embrace the platform, describing iCOLMS certification as a badge of professionalism and accountability within the logistics sector.
