The Member of Parliament (MP) for Akyem Oda, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, has organised a mock examination for 1,529 final-year pupils from 43 junior high schools in the Birim Central Municipality, who are preparing for the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

Twenty-six of the beneficiary schools are public educational institutions, while the remaining 17 are private.

Last Monday, Mr Acquah, accompanied by the Birim Central Municipal Director of Education, Gloria Kelson Aggrey, monitored the candidates participating in the mock examination at Akyem Oda.

Addressing the staff and pupils of the schools, Mr Acquah said the mock examination aimed to familiarise candidates with the examination environment, before the commencement of the final exams.

Mr Acquah advised the pupils to study hard to pass the examination to enable them secure admission to their first-choice schools.

He, however, warned them against indulging in examination malpractice, as it could land them in trouble when caught.

The MP stressed that he had observed a marked improvement in the BECE pass rate since he introduced the mock examinations six years ago.

The municipal education director advised the teachers to go through the mock examination question papers with the pupils to help them answer similar questions during the BECE.

She enjoined the pupils to attend school regularly until they completed the BECE.

Madam Aggrey praised Mr Acquah for organising the mock examinations for the final year students over the years.
