Karpowership Ghana has donated assorted food items to members of the Muslim community in Sekondi as part of its annual Ramadan support initiative aimed at assisting families during the holy month.
The donation took place at the Sekondi Naval Base Mosque, located a few meters away from the company’s Powership, bringing together community members, mosque leaders and representatives of Karpowership Ghana in a spirit of compassion and solidarity.
The food packages included bags of rice, cooking oil, tinned tomatoes, sugar, milk and assorted drinks to support families as they observe the fasting period. Special packages were also prepared for single mothers and widows in the community to ensure that vulnerable households benefit from the initiative.
Speaking during the presentation, the Communications Manager of Karpowership Ghana, Sandra Amartikar Amarquaye, noted that the gesture forms part of the company’s commitment to supporting communities within its operational areas.
“This mosque feels very much like home to us because the Powership is only a few meters away from here. As a company, Karpowership strongly believes in giving back to the communities where we operate.
“Ramadan is a special period of reflection, compassion and sharing, and we felt it was important to support our Muslim brothers and sisters during this holy month. We hope these food items will bring some relief to families and allow them to observe Ramadan with a little more comfort and peace,” she said.
The items were received by Commander Mohammed Abubakar, Command Technical Officer and Patron of the Naval Base Mosque, who accepted the donation on behalf of the mosque and the Muslim community.
“We are very grateful to Karpowership Ghana for this thoughtful gesture. The food items will be distributed to Muslim residents in Sekondi and to Muslim families within the Navy who are observing Ramadan. This support will go a long way in helping many families during the fasting period,” he said.
One of the beneficiaries, Madam Aisha, also expressed appreciation for the support, noting that the items had come at the right time for her family.
“These items have come in handy for my children and me during this Ramadan period. I am especially grateful that Karpowership thought about single mothers and widows beyond the mosque community. It is a very thoughtful and laudable gesture,” she said.
The Ramadan food distribution forms part of Karpowership Ghana’s broader Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, which focus on supporting communities and improving the well-being of people in areas where the company operates.
